CFI at Bridge Opening in Palm Springs, CA
On Wednesday, February 12, 2003, ClothesFree International, Inc. took their film crew on a seven hour drive to Palm Springs, CA for the grand opening of the nudist bridge at Desert Shadows Inn. After a long drive and a short nights sleep, the CFI crew was up at the crack of dawn getting ready for what was sure to be a big day for Palm Springs, Desert Shadows Inn, and the entire world of naturism.
The bridge was built in 2002 and erected in 2003 by over 125 on site workers, with an estimated cost of $650,000. The bridge spans 140 feet over Indian Canyon Drive at six feet wide and 17 feet tall. At 31 tons, 240 cubic yards of concrete, 62,000 pounds of steel, 140 gallons of paint, and 420 yards of canvas, this bridge is an artistic masterpiece and an icon for the naturist community.
The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, February 13 with an opening speech from Stephen Payne, C.E.O. of Desert Shadows Inn Resort & Villas. Other speakers included Pat Brown (president of A.A.N.R.), Johanna Baxandall (T.N.S), Ray Lavato (co-founder of Desert Shadows Inn) and Palm Springs Mayor William Kleindienst. The ceremony was exciting and so was the weather, rainy, not usual weather for Palm Springs.
ClothesFree International, Inc. was honored to have not only their President Cory M. to represent them at the opening, but also to have three "nudecasters" be the first people to walk across the bridge in the buff. Aaron Stewart, Elizabeth Hubert, and Jason Barnett were extremely pleased to know that they were the first naturists allowed to walk across the bridge in their natural state, NAKED!
